Asphalt is one of important building materials for pavement construction of high-grade highways. Due to temporary land acquisition, mobile construction, concentration of construction periods and other reasons, it is necessary to move and relocate storage tanks along with an asphalt mixing plant, with rapid and nondestructive assembly and disassembly.
Traditional large-scale asphalt storage tanks mostly adopt welded stationary tanks. Its drawback is that when a project comes to an end or the project location is changed, the storage tanks have to be cut on site and disposed as scraps, or the tanks so cut will be transported to the new project location for replenishment, stock-cutting, re-processing and welding, which is a great waste of manpower, materials and resources, and it is also not conducive to civilized construction and environmental protection.
Due to high transportation cost and requiring a large floor space, the small-scale horizontal/vertical monolithic insulated asphalt storage tank supplied along with asphalt mixing plants is not suitable for the projects which require long-distance deployment and have limited floor space for construction.

1. Concept of prefabricated assembly storage tank
The tank body is composed of several plate-type steel modules, which are prefabricated at factory and then transported to the construction site for assembly. All modules are connected by and fastened with high-strength bolts, and in order to ensure the strength and tightness of the connection and fastening, special structure and sealing materials are adopted. The storage capacity of a single assembled storage tank is 100m3- 6000m3. Prefabricated assembly storage tanks can be used to hold all kinds of liquid materials, powders, and granular materials, etc.

3.1 Comparison of transportation cost
The dimension of each module of prefabricated assembly asphalt storage tank conforms to both domestic and international standards for highway transportation and container transportation. The compact structure helps to save transportation space and greatly reduce transportation cost. Taking the transportation distance of 500km in China as example, the comparison is as follows:

Conclusion: For some projects which have difficulty in land acquisition, need conducting construction in mountainous regions, and need temporary land acquisition, it is particularly important to store more asphalt with less floor space.
